Description
Water quality monitoring reports from the port of Bar Harbor, Maine collected by staff and volunteers of the Community Lab at MDI Biological Laboratory in Salisbury Cove, ME. Water samples were analyzed for phytoplankton, biological oxygen demand, dissolved oxygen, nutrients, salinity, transparency, turbidity, and Enterococcus bacteria.
Data Records
The data in this occurrence resource has been published as a Darwin Core Archive (DwC-A), which is a standardized format for sharing biodiversity data as a set of one or more data tables. The core data table contains 709 records.
This IPT archives the data and thus serves as the data repository. The data and resource metadata are available for download in the downloads section. The versions table lists other versions of the resource that have been made publicly available and allows tracking changes made to the resource over time.
Versions
The table below shows only published versions of the resource that are publicly accessible.

Sampling Methods
The water quality monitoring protocol will be similar to the one described in the MDI Water Quality Coalition Cruise Ship Water Quality Report (2005) and detailed in the DEP-approved Quality Assurance Project Plan used at the Community Environmental Health Laboratory. Variables assessed in water samples taken from the pier or in cruise ship anchorages will include Enterococcus and phytoplankton occurrence. Samples for bacterial analysis will be collected using a Whirl-Pak sample bags and then tested using the Enterolert Protocol from IDEXX.
